Nejlepší klipy | Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer | 1986

Peter Gabriel a jeho revoluční videoklip ke skladbě Sledgehammer z pátého studiového alba So z roku 1986 se stal obrovským radiovým hitem a následně i vyhrál cenu MTV Top Music Video Award a také Best British Video za rok 1987. Na albu So chtěl Peter Gabriel, po předchozích více experimentálnějších albech, představit svou vlastní vizi popu. Sledgehammer je do dnešní doby jeho nejúspěšnější singl a též pro MTV je vůbec nejhranějším klipem její historie. Videoklip natočil Stephen R. Johnson, jež později natočil pro Petera Gabriela také klip k Big Time a Steam (obě ze So). Ve všech třech klipech bylo použito několik animačních technik, převážně ale stop motion. Zajímavostí je, že bezhlavá tančící kuřata v polovině videoklipu rozpohyboval Nick Park (proslavený později animáky Wallace a Gromita) z Aardman Animations.

PS > Shodou okolností 22. října vyšla remastrovaná verze alba So k 25. výročí desky. Lze si jej koupit i jako limitovaný boxset, kde najdene kromě původního alba So (nyní DNA So) i dosud nevydaný 2CD záznam Live in Athens 1987, DVD dokument So: Classic Album, 180g vinyl s remasterovaným albdm So, 12'' singl s dosud nevydanými nahrávkami Courage a Sagrada a alternativní verzí Don’t Give Up a dále šedesátistránkovou knihu.

Kristen Schaal (např. seriál Flight of the Conchords) jako znuděná prezidentka USA a John Slattery (ze seriálu Mad Men) jako zamilovaný a žárlící její bodyguard? Proč ne, je to nápadité, vtipné, funguje to, a lehce satirické vyznění klipu je v kontrastu ke smutnému textu písně.
Videoklip ke Conversation 16 je již třetí v pořadí z posledního velmi úspěšného alba High Violet. Režie i scénáře se ujal Scott Jacobson.
